Business Incubator – Sutherland Institute
Predominantly working in the corporate non-broadcast sector, Reels in Motion was formed in November 2004 by three Staffordshire University Film Production Graduates. From initial business support provided by Staffordshire University the company moved into their current studio in 2007 which they have now outgrown – both in terms of the space they need for their expanding team, as well as meeting their needs for specialist facilities and scope to deliver their full range of film, recording and editing services.
With the award of grant support the company have been able to complete on the purchase of a former social club and concert hall, offering them 4 times the square footage they previously occupied, which they plan to fully renovate to their own specification. When works are completed the business will have a range of office and meeting spaces – including hot desk rental for other small creative businesses – as well as their own film studio and green room suite, two industry standard editing rooms and a recording studio.
All of these facilities will be unique to the area and as well as offering additional benefits to the business in achieving its growth plans, the company intend to make them commercially available to other local production companies and creative businesses who would normally need to travel to Manchester or London.
